Driver License Testing for Knowledge and Skill Tests
All of our locations are DOL approved to administer the Knowledge test and Skills test.

Most locations can accommodate a skills tests within a few days. If you are in a hurry please contact the office to check availability before purchasing but you will need to register online to schedule an appointment.

If an applicant has a temporary or permanent physical, visual, or mental impairment, or take medication which could impair their ability to operate a motor vehicle, the Department of Licensing must conduct the skills examination.

3 Simple Steps to get your license!
1. Register for License Express (click for details)
Register for License Express if you do not already have a Washington ID card. At the end of the process, you will be given a PIC (Personal Identification Code or also known as Confirmation ID) which is a combination of letters and numbers. Write this number down as it will be required to enroll in either the Knowledge or Skills Test. Having this number will speed up the process in verification. Make sure you have this when you arrive for the test in addition to photo identification. Without this number, you will not be able to schedule any required tests and we will not be able to report necessary scores to the DOL.
2. Pass the Knowledge Test (click for details)
Pass the Knowledge Test.* Register for the test below. When we receive your order and it has been verified, our office will confirm your ID number provided when registering then a verification email will be sent to you. After you receive your email, you will be able to schedule your testing appointment on our scheduling website. You must register before you can schedule your test. Confirmation could take up to 24 hours. We are closed on Sundays and major holidays. *In order to obtain a driver’s license, applicants under the age of 18, in addition to passing the knowledge and driving skills tests, will need to pass a Washington State driver’s education course. Applicants may take the knowledge test after completing driver’s ed or after 15 1/2 years of age.
3. Pass the Skills Test (click for details)
Pass the Skills Test. Register for the test below. When we receive your order and it has been verified, our office will confirm your ID number provided when registering, then a verification email will be sent to you. After you receive your email, you will be able to schedule within 24 hours. We are closed on Sundays and major holidays. You must have a valid passing score on your DOL Knowledge Test before scheduling the DOL Skills Test. Study for the driving test by clicking on this guide. Practice driving every day. Drive so often that your confidence and skill will overcome anytest anxiety that may hit you. You will also need to go to the DOL to get a learner’s permit before doing any driving practice on the road.

You must show legal PHOTO identification at your testing appointment. The knowledge test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions about traffic safety laws. Applicants must answer at least 32 questions correctly in order to pass the test. Applicants will be given a maximum of 35 minutes to complete the test. You must bring your cell phone or tablet logged into your License eXpress account showing “Take an Exam”. You must have mobile data or a hotspot for your personal device to be connected to Wi-Fi for the duration of the test.

Please arrive to your testing appointment on time. Applicants who arrive late for their scheduled test will have a reduced amount of time to take the test. You must show legal PHOTO identification at your testing appointment. The knowledge test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions about traffic safety laws. Applicants must answer at least 32 questions correctly in order to pass the test. Applicants will be given a maximum of 55 minutes to complete the test. This is for one attempt only. Your test will be recorded. You must bring your cell phone or tablet logged into your License eXpress account showing “Take an Exam”. Looking to get all your license testing done in a day? This is a 90-minute appointment which includes a private knowledge test with examiner plus the skills test. If there's time you can do a short warm-up prior to the skills test which is held the last 30 minutes of the appointment. You must pass the knowledge test to be able to take the skills test. If you do not pass either test, you can take it again, time permitting but you must complete everything within the 90-minute appointment time. We would recommend taking the Knowledge Test Prep course to ensure you are ready to pass the Knowledge test on the first try. This is recommended for those who have previously held a license. The majority of locations offer this October through June on weekday mornings/early afternoons. The locations shown normally have availability in the next few weeks.
